R.I.P. Dennis Hopper

Actor Dennis Hopper succumbed to prostate cancer today at his home in California. He was 74.

Hopper helped revolutionize the film world when he wrote, directed and co-starred in the 1969 counter-culture classic Easy Rider. He later had memorable turns as a strung-out reporter in Apocalypse Now, an insane sadomasochist in Blue Velvet and the basketball-loving town drunkard in Hoosiers, for which he earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Oscars.

No one did crazy (benevolent or otherwise) like Hopper. He will be sorely missed.
